General Secretary Kim Jong Il enjoyed an art performance given by the State Merited Chorus on the occasion of the opening of the Kalma Theatre.

He first went round the newly built Kalma Theatre at the Kalma Rest Home of the KPA.

The theatre is another gift given by him to the servicepersons of the KPA out of his loving care.

After walking round the interior of the theatre, he expressed great satisfaction with the successful building of the modern theatre equipped with all facilities and highly appreciated the feats performed by soldier-builders.

The servicepersons of the KPA devoting themselves to the sacred struggle for defending the country are the precious revolutionary comrades, revolutionary comrades-in-arms who cannot be bartered for anything, he said, adding that nothing should be spared for them.

Then he enjoyed an art performance given by the State Merited Chorus on the occasion of the opening of the theatre.

Among the audience were KPA Generals Hyon Chol Hae and Ri Myong Su and other commanding officers of the army, Kim Ki Nam, secretary of the WPK Central Committee, and Jang Song Thaek and Choe Ik Gyu, department directors of the WPK Central Committee, and other leading officials of the Party Central Committee.

The chorus put on the stage male choruses "The Forest Sways" and "The Sound of Horse´s Hooves in Mt. Paektu," male solos and male choruses "My Native Place" and "For My Only Motherland", male chorus "The Road of Victory" and other numbers.

Through the performance the artistes enthusiastically sang of the immense honor and pride of the KPA holding Kim Jong Il in high esteem as supreme commander of the revolutionary armed forces and truthfully represented the fixed faith and will of the KPA to accomplish the revolutionary cause of Juche with arms under the uplifted great banner of Songun.

He was greatly satisfied with the splendid performance replete with the faith and will of Songun Korea and the revolutionary soldier spirit given by the above-said artistes and highly appreciated their successful presentation.

He expressed great expectation and conviction that all the artistes of the chorus would positively encourage the army and the people in new struggles and the efforts to perform feats through their dynamic revolutionary art activities in the future, too, and thus fully display the might of the buglers of the Songun revolution and the militant art unit.
