Victorious Musan Area Battle Memorial Tower.

Pyongyang -- A national meeting was held in the plaza of the Victorious Musan Area Battle Memorial Tower Friday to mark the 70th anniversary of the victory of the battles in the Musan area commanded by President Kim Il Sung.

Attending it were Kim Yong Chun, Choe Thae Bok and Choe Yong Rim and leading officials of party and armed forces organs, working people´s organizations, ministries and national institutions, servicepersons of the Korean People´s Army, officials in the field of the preservation of revolutionary relics, heroes, those who had honor of being received by the President, persons of merit, members of the 618 Construction Shock Brigade, officials and other working people in Ryanggang Province.

Choe Thae Bok, alternate member of the Political Bureau and secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers´ Party of Korea, delivered a report at the meeting.

The reporter said that the advance of the Korean People´s Revolutionary Army (KPRA) into the homeland and the shining victory of the battles in the Musan area commanded by the President marked historic events of great significance as they further developed the overall Korean revolution centered on the anti-Japanese armed struggle and brought about a fresh surge in the national liberation struggle in colonies.

The above-said victory encouraged the broad popular masses to turn out as one in the anti-Japanese revolution with the firm faith that the revolution was sure to win one victory after another and the country was sure to be liberated as long as there was the KPRA commanded by the President, the reporter noted, and continued:

The battles in the Musan area clearly proved the truth and vitality of the idea of attaching importance to arms, the idea that the army of the revolution guarantees the victory of the popular masses´ cause of independence and the prosperity of the country and the nation.

General Secretary Kim Jong Il formulated the Songun politics as the main political mode under socialism by carrying forward and developing the idea of attaching importance to arms, the Songun idea and line set forth by the President who gave origin to Songun, and implemented them in all fields. By doing so, he brought about a dramatic turn in the historic struggle for accomplishing the cause of building a great prosperous and powerful nation and the revolutionary cause of Juche.

Under the wise leadership of Kim Jong Il the army and people of the DPRK have won one victory after another in the fierce political and military confrontation with the imperialists and brought about a great surge in the revolution and construction, thus coming close to the gate to a thriving nation.

The reporter called on the servicepersons and the people to hold fast to the Songun idea and line as an ever-victorious treasured sword for the Korean revolution, true to the leadership of Kim Jong Il to accomplish the cause of Kim Il Sung with Songun, and defend the security of the country and its people and provide a firm military guarantee for the building of a great prosperous and powerful socialist nation by channeling sustained great efforts into bolstering up the capability for self-defense.

He underscored the need to dynamically wage the 150-day campaign by giving full play to the inexhaustible mental power and all potentials under the uplifted torch of a great revolutionary surge kindled by Kim Jong Il and bring about once again great innovations and leap forward in order to glorify this year as a year of a decisive turn in building a thriving nation and more powerfully demonstrate the might of Songun Korea.

Pointing out that a stumbling block is lying in the way of national reunification due to the reckless moves of the U.S., Japan and the south Korean conservative authorities to escalate the confrontation with the DPRK, the reporter warned:

If the U.S. and Japanese reactionaries and south Korean traitors persistently challenge the DPRK despite its repeated warnings and the desire of the Koreans for national reunification, its servicepersons and people will give full play to the might of the powerful revolutionary army of Mt. Paektu and all the potentials built in the crucible of the Songun revolution and thus mete out a stern punishment to the aggressors and surely accomplish the historic cause of national reunification.
