A meeting of the General Council of the World Federation of Democratic Youth (WFDY) held in Cuba on May 8 and 9 expressed full support with the just cause of the people and youth of the DPRK.

A political statement, adopted at the meeting, branded the U.S. forces in south Korea as the biggest obstacle to the independent and peaceful reunification of Korea and the chieftain of a new war of aggression and said that the WFDY strongly urges the U.S. to withdraw all its aggression forces and military bases from the Korean Peninsula and its surrounding areas at once.

The statement denounced the reckless anti-DPRK moves of the U.S. taking issue with the DPRK´s satellite launch for peaceful purposes.

An action program for 2009, adopted at the meeting, clarified that the organization would strengthen the solidarity with the Korean people and youth in the struggle to get the U.S. forces withdrawn from south Korea and achieve the independent and peaceful reunification of the country in the June 25-July 27 month of anti-U.S. joint struggle.

A statement of solidarity with the Korean people and youth was adopted at the meeting. It said that the WFDY calls upon all the progressive people and youth in the world to extend solidarity to the just cause of the Korean people and youth for the country´s independent and peaceful reunification and join in the common struggle to resolutely smash the aggression and war moves of the U.S. imperialists and their followers threatening the world peace and security.
