Pyongyang, February 6 (KCNA) -- Tele-education College under Kim Chaek University of Technology is playing a key role in education among factory colleges in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

The college was founded in January Juche 95 (2006) as a tele-education centre, the first of its kind in the country.

Promoted to a college in March 2010, it has given lectures in 20 odd subjects to more than one hundred industrial establishments throughout the country, including the Chollima Steel Complex and the Hukryong Coal Mine.

In Pyongyang City alone, tens of factories benefit from the lectures. Among them are the Pyongyang Wheat Flour Processing Factory and the Pyongyang Electric Cable Factory 326.

Kim Il Nam, rector of the college, told KCNA:

"The tele-education service makes contributions to training workers to be technicians and reeducating field engineers.

In recent years the college has won certificates of new scientific and technological findings, inventions, software copyrights and programs, more than 150 in all.

It also introduced several new state standards and published various kinds of reference books.

The college, which began operation with ten odd programmers and teachers, has tens of academic degree holders at present."
